AS 04 from Altered states brings us the work of Agnes Martian. Work started on these exploratory jams in early 2020 and evolved over time through the pandemic. Kind of a funky 70s jam vibe with some groovy bass work, classic key sounds, funky rhythm, and some sax work. The 18-minute title track is mellow and quite intoxicating with its cosmic lounge groove that eventually shifts to astral travel before picking up the pace in one of the most mellow freakouts you could experience. To put it simply. This is some good shit. “The Past Light Cone” takes a bit of a darker approach through the stars with its deep pads, sci-fi keys, and crystaline bleeps and bloops. “Beep Beep Beep” closes things out with a funky bass line some lighter psych keys and guitar and of course some sax. About as relaxing as psych jam grooves can get.
