Altered States, the label collab between individuals from Cardinal Fuzz and Centripetal Force records continues its excellent series with releases 3 and 4. AS 03 features Spiral Galaxy, the duo of Sara Gosset on Flutes and loops, and Plastic Crimewave on guitars, keys, and machines. Together they mesh a series of drones, syn drums, and flute work to create a blend of early Kosmische vibes with experimental texture backdrops. 4 lengthy tracks take you on a journey to meditative bliss. The Eastern tones and flute bring to mind some of the work of Popol Vuh. I’m really liking what I hear on this one. I’m going to have to go back and listen to their first vinyl release. These releases are in short supply so you are going to want to grab them while you can. Packaged in the same risograph paper sleeves designed by Brett Savage and limited to 100.
