Released earlier this year on Sulatron Records and We Were Never Being Boring, make it better is a dazzling foray into no-wave electronic psych. This post punk quartet from Mantova Italy create pounding rhythms, electronics, fuzzed out vocals and guitar combine to create a dizzying beat. I can here some underground 80s roots here with updated techniques. Think Comateens or Devo meets The Vacant Lots with emphasis on the Vacant Lots. There is a lo-fi aesthetic at work here to great effect. This is primarily a dance record hurling along at a frantic pace and not straying too far from it’s intent. Sure you can maybe hear some kraut rock roots but it really isn’t much more than a sped up Motorik beat to make that comparison. Anything else is pretty much a stretch. The syncopated staccato guitars may owe more to Gang of Four or Joy Division than Can. This is really more for fans of psych tinged electronica than anything else. I have a feeling this would make for a stellar live show. Definitely late night party music.
