As I am sure most of the people that check out this page are aware by now, there is another installment of the Psych Against Cancer compilation out this year and this year’s edition is monumental in size. Brought to you by the Facebook group “Psych Lovers” this compilation features a staggering 165 tracks spread out over two volumes. Once again all tracks are donated by the artists to support the groups adopted charity “McMillan Cancer Support“, “a charity which started out as the Society for the Prevention and Relief of Cancer… an organization that is dedicated not only to cancer patients but also their family and friends… anyone living with cancer. A charity that acknowledges the whole situation when someone has cancer… a charity that tries to make sure that no one has to go through cancer alone.” I am proud to both be a member of this group and a supporter of this cause but I am even more proud of the bands that have donated these tracks and for the overwhelming support given to the cause by the community.
You are not going to find a better collection of tunes in one place and if you didn’t get last year’s edition you can pick that one up too by grabbing the digital discography. We are not talking about throwaway tunes here or one compilation carried by a single track from a decent artist with a bunch of no-names. This set features unreleased tracks from a wide spectrum of top artists in the psych and psych related genres we all know and love from all over the world. I’m not even going to try and count how long this thing plays and I’m not sure ill ever get to the end with some of these tracks lasting over 20 minutes. Part of the fun of this one is all the great new stuff you are going to discover tucked in amongst your favs. Needless to say, this one is a must-have and it’s for a great cause.
