First released on Bloxham Tapes and now coming soon on vinyl from Cardinal Fuzz (Europe) and Feeding Tube Records (USA) on heavy black vinyl. “Behind the Spiderweb Gates” comprises all of side one and features dense layers of Omnichrod, violas, and voice. Side two kicks off with “In Solitude I Will Fade Away. A folky tune with vocals, voice layers, and choppy viola hits has a feel like it might be a “traditional” or common domain folk song. “How My Heart Bled in Bleeding Heart Yard” follows. Heavy on the Omnichord layered with Viola and vocal choir effects. The Hill Was Hollow is a short piece featuring a lone drum and viola. The album closes with a studio version of “Shirt Of Lace” a cover of the Dorothy Carter song which Cotton often performs live. featuring drones and viola plucks Cotton’s voice soars above it all creating a stunning texture. Truly a mesmerizing record for lovers of dark, folky drones.
