Cardinal Fuzz (Europe) and Centripetal Force (North America) will soon be releasing the latest release from UK space rock outfit Mugstar. Hot on the heels of their latest release with Damo Suzuki, Graft emphasizes a more focused approach utilizing slightly shorter tracks than they have been released recently. The LP kicks off with a brief two-minute intro “Deep In The Air” which leads into the first of 5 tracks that are generally shorter and more focused than their previous long players. “Zeta Potential” a fuzzed-out rocker featuring a pounding rhythm section and some blazing guitar work.”Ghost Of A Ghost” Follows and is the longest piece on the LP. It kicks off slow and steady and continues at that slow pace throughout, emphasizing the spacey atmospherics and trance-inducing rhythm. “Cato” picks up the pace with a frantic rhythm and some catchy keyboards. “Low Slow Horizon” begins with a low bassline and a whirling organ drone augmented by the spaced-out guitars throughout. The album closes with “Star Cage” a more upbeat piece that has a more Krautrock feel to it with maybe some reference to “Hallogallo” but eventually kicks into a higher gear with a much more frantic feel to it. Another solid effort from Mugstar. this one is definitely made for higher volumes.
