The eighth studio record from Mexico’s Los Mundos find them exploring new sounds and textures on this new release. recorded, of course, during Covid so like alot of bands we see a bit of experimentation with new sounds and approaches. As we saw with an earlier release the band is experimenting with modular synths, electronics effects and now zithers and gongs, There is almost a touch of some of the influence of bands such as Kikagaku Moyo or Minami Deutsch kicking about underneath here which I think they use to excellent effect. They accomplish all of this while still maintaining that somewhat dark foundation that has always been present. We are even treated to a nice acoustic tune in “Dejen Dormir”. If your into the deep grooves “Rocas” is not going to disappoint. For my tastes Los Mundos is a band that never disappoints. I think some people that maybe have not given them much notice might actually find this record appeals to them more than they might have expected. This was the first Los Mundos record that was written as a band and the result is a more full and cohesive sound.
