Got far more than I bargained for with these two releases. I didn’t do a whole lot of pre-listening before I purchased and thought this was going to be a bit more on the Eastern experimental side of things. What I got was so much more. Ajay Saggar aka Bhajan Bhoy was joined by several musicians on these two records, released at the same time as more of a double set. Classic burning psych riffs, Fuzzed out basslines, chorused vocals, droning mellow experimentation, slow raga inspired drones, pulsating reverberations, choral samples, it’s all here, sometimes all at once. I don’t think I have ever experienced a release that so successfully ties together so many influences in such a way that none of it is lost. I guess if I had to delineate between the two, volume 1 is a bit more psych oriented while volume 2 is a bit darker and more ambient or electronics focused. Neither should be missed. These two will get tons of play around here.
