Whenever I order from a label overseas i have to play a little game to make sure I don’t overpay for shipping that involves listening to everything else on their site and deciding if its worth the purchase to help offset the absurd cost of international shipping these days. Depending on my mood on order days, I may or may not decide to pass on ordering at all, or over-buy things I may not need or want. so while browsing the Clostridium store for the latest Kombynat release I found this Edgar’s Hair record. It passed the initial smell test after some quick listening so I patiently waited for it’s arrival. The band is made up of members of three bands from the Netherlands i have never heard of I$I$, Oak and Rumbone. The music is rooted a bit in the past but also looks forward in a way that older sci-fi movies do. you get some jazz influence and then also some electronics and vocoder, often on the same track. It’s a bit tough to describe, it’s a bit like prog meets, krautrock meets post-rock. It’s not something you are going to dance to and at times is a bit on the experimental side. I usually try and say if you like band XYZ you will like this but i honestly have no comparison here. I can however tell you that it’s thoroughly enjoyable. At times though i can pull some reference, “Sonic Breath” for me recalls a bit of the old punk\electronic of Shock Therapy. “Comet Nucleus” has a touch of Mogwai fluttering about. but for the most part i think we are mostly rooted in a type of electronic prog music. Love this record and now have to grab me their first release. Really enjoy it much more than I initially thought I would when listening to it quickly digitally pre purchase. I highly recommend this one.

Available from Clostridium in a regular and a deluxe version also available from the bands Bandcamp page
