Klaus was my intro to electronic music back when I discovered the genre during late-night college radio listening sessions in the early 80’s. His music stuck with me ever since. Deus Arrakis is his final studio LP, released after his recent passing. While most will point to his early career highlights I really think his later works are far underappreciated. His albums Kontinuum, Shadowland, Silhouettes, and Moonlake were quite solid. Deus Arrakis was inspired by Dune. Its three main tracks are broken down into shorter pieces representing each of his subjects. There’s a darkness and melancholy here with a lot of the feel of his earlier works. The sequencing is a bit more subtle but all the familiar sounds are there, especially the flanged effects fading in and out. There’s a bit of a dark ambient feel here but the sound really does seem to express a vast landscape. It’s a beautiful record. If you have skipped over the later portion of his career start here and work back. I think you will be pleasantly surprised how much you like this if you were a fan of Irrlicht or Timewind.
You can pick this up at Amazon or pretty much anywhere. Unfortunately, I somehow missed out on the box.
