Gunman & The Holy Ghost, is a side project of Icelandic musician Hákon Aðalsteinsson. Hákon, is known for his work with The Third Sound, Singapore Sling, and The Brian Jonestown Massacre. put them all together and that’s pretty much what you get here. Solid psych tunes with a bit of that Western twang, Think BJM with a much deeper, darker voice. Though some may not like the comparison there’s more than a touch of Neo-folk here with the acoustic strumming and deep echoed vocals. If you’re a fan of the genre you’ll know what I’m talking about. This isn’t exactly the most uplifting of records, it’s loaded with a slow beautiful melancholy. An excellent release but not exactly a party starter. This one is for breaking out the bottle of whiskey.
