I was holding off on this review and the new one from Loop because I felt like I didn’t have much to say for the most part. I still don’t have much to say but I should at least comment because I listen to the album quite a bit. There’s nothing new here. If you love Spiritualized you probably like the album and if you don’t this isn’t going to change your mind. What this album does have is solid tunes all the way through. Most of the last few LPs have had a decent track here or there, but this one is a solid effort from start to finish, which is probably why I’m playing it so often. You can take my opinion with a grain of salt of course because Mr. Spaceman started to lose me at Ladies and Gentlemen… though I still own everything and still go to the shows I pretty much just play isolated tracks from each later release. Everything Was Beautiful has managed to pull me back into the fold even if the box packaging was completely useless. I’m especially fond of the middle portion of this record. “Crazy”, “The Mainline Song” and “The A Song” are especially strong. Overall a strong release.
