This one’s a bit tough to figure out. It’s kind of a dark dance record at times and at other times it’s a bit of a seedy crawl in a dark underworld. There’s a lot of high-powered production behind this Little Cloud / Acid Test release. Very clean sounding with a 70’s vibe at times with bongos and other percussion but yet with a dark underlying fuzz going gone under it all. Dense bass grooves with disco era type analog effects and even a bit of a Blue Monday take (“Fell For You”). The LP closes out with a very cowboy-style western stroll of a tune. The vocals are very Leonard Cohen styled in a kind of low and dark talking style, almost like a narration. At times almost reminds me of a solo Stan Ridgeway without the nasal voice. I’m going to have to give this a few more plays to figure out where it belongs in my listening regimen. Probably more of a winding down late evening sort of thing.
