The folks over at The Weird Beard are at it again with another killer release. This time out we get a stunning visual design and music to match from Black Tempest. The vinyl is a dark blue splattered on a lighter blue, packaged in a beautifully designed jacket with artwork by David Drew.

The LP kicks off with the slightly punky sounding “23rd Century Space Station” with it’s heavy guitar riff layered over the electronic drum beat and distant keys with deliberate almost chant like like vocals. “Sacred Machinery” takes us in a bit of a different direction with celestial sounding chorus and electronic sequencing for a full Kosmiche effect. The third track, Spaceway Freedom Fighter in many ways combines elements of the first two tracks to produce what I think is the top track on the album which In many ways a straight up rock protest tune with some electronic space alien elements floating about. “Android Daydream 1”, as is “Android Daydream 2” later on, is one of those tracks that you can picture as a soundtrack to some desolate remote futuristic movie location. Liberation Space dub is another excellent track that combines elements of classic Kosmiche electronics with the echo laden dub elements to create a nice extended groove. “Star Fall” returns us to more straight up rock with a bit more emphasis on the keys this time and a bit of angst leading up to a nice crescendo. The album closes with Temple of The Sun Machine. An quiet electronic piece with piano elements sequencers and a futuristic sounding rhythm.

This one won’t be around long. Limited to 250 copies, the first 50 of which will come with a bonus download of the companion EP and a numbered insert featuring similar artwork.
