Certainly one of the reviews i missed earlier in the year is this killer release on Tonzonen records by cosmic space rockers Kombynat Robotron or КОМВУИАТ ЯОВОТЯОИ depending on where you are searching. Based in Kiel Germany the band is primarily an improvised jam band creating slowly evolving space jams. Their records sell out pretty quick and this one was no exception. Consisting of only four tracks the band leads off with three “Shorter” pieces on side one in what is perhaps a new approach with more concise writing but they certainly do not lack in intensity. Each of the three pieces on the first side get right to the point with a definite quick motorik pace as they chug along through. Side two is a long slow spacey thing that ebbs and flows through its twenty plus minutes with sparse percussion and spaced out guitar leaving you with this feeling that some kind of freakout is coming but it never really does which in a way keeps you on the edge of your seat and yet doesn’t disappoint. I’m not sure of the distribution on this one at this point. The vinyl is sold out over at Tonzonen but you can still get the CD. Keep an eye out on these guys. They are quite prolific in their short existence so far and their releases tend to disappear fast. So far, it’s pretty high on my list for the year
