One of my favorite discoveries of the last couple of years has been the number of great psych bands from Mexico. Right near the top of this list for me has been Los Mundos. On their seventh full-length album They combine driving rhythms, fuzzed-out guitars, and keys for an incredibly full sound. Sometimes using Latin rhythms, sometimes just straight-up rock beats standout tracks like “Cristalizacoin” and “Prorroga del Fin” will drive you into the ground with the hypnotic beat. Tracks like “Frutos Rojos” change things up with some beat break downs and funky guitars. Something interesting Los Mundos is able to do is be both heavy and light at the same time to an interesting effect. I have to admit I like when they slow things down and go a bit dark like on “Circulo de Aves”. There is a lot to like about the eleven tracks on this album. With several changes of pace, it keeps you on your toes and engaged. The singing is all in Spanish which seems to fit nicely though I have to admit that leaves me not knowing what any of the songs are about which in many ways helps me focus on the music more acutely. This is a band I would love to see at a festival. Seems like they would put on a killer show.
You can pick up the LP from the bands Bandcamp Page, The CD is available from LSDR and in the USA you can pick it up at Little Cloud
