I am by no means an expert on The Heads and their legendary status. I am truly disappointed that I will not be seeing them later this month in what would have surely been another amazing trip to Eindhoven for the Fuzz Club Festival. Volume 2 follows last year’s Volume 1 in the continuing Reverberations series. This one was recorded Live at the Thekla in Bristol on December 6th 2001 as part of “The Gnostic Bash: A” Tribute to Kenneth Anger”
The performance is two tracks. The epic 30 Minute k.r.t and the shorter (15 minutes) Spliff Riff. The recording definitely has that bootleg feel to it but man does it smoke. Spliff Riff, which closes the lp out, is a relentlessly epic track with some crazy manic drumming and that relentless fuzzed-out swirling guitar that stays somewhat true to the versions I have heard. k.r.t on the other hand takes things above and beyond what can be heard on the Rkt! lp This is one crazy-ass jam with the same relentless drumming and a killer bass groove but the screaming guitars take it to another level. The atmosphere in this club must have been intense with the strobes, smoke, and the non-stop 45 minutes of sonic mayhem. Don’t let this one get away from you.
The release date is slated for 28th August from Cardinal Fuzz/Rooster. Presented in a Reflective Mirri Board Sleeve. Full Pressing Heavy Black Vinyl.
Pre Order from Cardinal Fuzz in Europe and Little Cloud in the USA sound sample on either site
