The quality vinyl just keeps coming and “Tidalwave” is no exception. Victoria’s The Backhomes is a duo of Kees Dekker and visual artist Aimée van Drimmelen. Together they create a whirling electronic vibe that seems to pull from The Jesus and Mary Chain as much as it does Neu! Heavy on the tremolo and reverb the entire LP washes over you in a dreamy haze-like atmosphere that seems a bit otherworldly at times. “Tracks like One More Time” and “Save Me” borrow from post-Spacemen acts like The Darkside or Alphastone. If you like your psych music spaced out, trippy, and electronic this is for you. One of the more enjoyable records of the year.
