I love discovering those little known American bands on Bandcamp and landing excellent vinyl for reasonable prices and these Bandcamp Friday’s have been a blessing and an excellent excuse to drop some cash in places that might not normally be on the radar. Marmalade Knives is an excellent example. Formed in Santa Cruz, CA, and released on Italian label Electric Valley, Amnesia explores the outer reaches of Psychedelia, from cosmic rock to experimental to all-out freakouts.

Amnesia leads things of with a spacey spoken word cosmic meditation that leads into “Rivuleting” an 8 minute classic rock inspired cosmic jam. “The Best-Laid Plans” follows with a somewhat Kosmiche inspired 70’s guitar piece. Next up is “Rebel Coryell” sounding somewhat Mike Oldfield inspired here. The fifth track “Xayante” is a bit heavier with those same classic rock\Kosmiche vibes. “Ez-Ra” kicks of with a deep bass groove and echoed guitars with the lead guitar again echoing the Oldfield sound a bit. The album closes with “Astrology Domine” and yes it does have a touch of Floyd and ventures into a few different territories on this somewhat darker closing piece with some nice guitar work. Pressed on Random colored marble Vinyl.
