Another excellent release on Drone Rock Records is the new one from Eye Make The Horizon. playing their own form of psych, jazz free form rock this four-piece from Stockholm doesn’t disappoint.
Another 4 track long-form release from Drone Rock Records, recorded live, totally improvised, and not overdubbed. “Astrocrusher kicks things off with an eleven-minute funky, jazzy vibe featuring some walking bass and staccato guitar playing. “Rubbing Off” follows with a frantic motorik beat-laden jam with some distressed alternate tuned guitar work. “Featherlight Bomb” kicks off side 2 with a much more experimental feel featuring some jazz sax and drumming and more of the walking basslines. The album closes with “Obsession” which is a bit of a combo of all of the above. Slightly less jazzy but featuring alternatively tuned guitar with an almost Sonic Youth touch and what sounds like piano though I don’t see any on the listed instrumentation.
A bit of a different feel to this release and will appeal to those that venture to the jazzy side of psych but there is plenty enough here for everyone. Limited edition of 150 on beautiful red marble and 100 on clear.
