Dead sea apes have been around since 2009 and continue to play their unique brand of desert drone/psych rock/garage rock from their base in Manchester UK. One of their latest efforts is the limited release “Nightlands”. Nightlands has been released on Cardinal Fuzz as a limited run of 175 copies on black smoke vinyl and 225 Black vinyl. Playing now as a four piece the lineup is also augmented by Nick Rayne of the Myrrors.

Night Lands is made up off three improvisational pieces and plays as the perfect soundtrack to a ride through the post apocalyptic wasteland of the Australian desert in your V8 Interceptor. “No Friends But The Mountains” takes up side 1 and is 20 minutes of Desert Rock bliss. Slowly building up with the trance-like bass-line and layering the guitars and seamlessly integrating Rayne’s familiar guitar work to create a somewhat euphoric state. Side two continues on this journey with the shorter piece “Night Lands”. “A Slow Heart Beats Hard” ventures into darker territory with a much more sinister tone augmented by more pronounced keyboards. Another great ride from Dead Sea Apes.

Although I think this one is sold out over at Cardinal Fuzz as well as Feeding Tube keep your eyes peeled as mystery copies of these releases occasionally pop up as boxes are found or shop merch is returned. Don’t miss out. Give it a listen on their Bandcamp page. It’s currently name your price but please be sure to help out artists as much as possible with a generous contribution.
