Originally released in 2021 in Digital and CDr formats the LP was released on Vinyl recently as a three way label collaboration between Fuzzed up & Astromoon, The Weird Beard and Echodelick Records. El Universo is multi instrumentalist Eder Ademar from Mexico city. He plays all instruments on this release. There’s a DIY aesthetic to this record which is something I can always appreciate. Nothing to complicated here. Drum machine percussion some heavily fuzzed out guitar and mild doses of electronics and effects. There is an underlying darkness here which is probably what pulls me in most. Tracks like “Red Moon” and “Monkeys and Apes” and the opener “The First Party On Mars” have that head nodding beat and bass driven motorik rhythm. The album takes a different direction on side 2 with two longer pieces. “Primer Encuentro” is a singular electronic drone with some filter play altering its path until it detunes and warps at its conclusion. The title track is a long piece without percussion with keyboard washes and slow, clean and dark guitar work. It seems to want to break out but keeps you on the edge waiting in a kind of satisfying denial.
