Elodie, on this release, is Andrew Chalk and Timo Van Luijk. I’m a huge fan of Andrew Chalk and his drones and have been for some 30 years so it would come as no surprise that I would jump on his latest release. I just didn’t expect the Covid 19 to hold this package up for 4 months. So I was certainly excited when it did finally show up unscathed. This certainly isn’t going to be for everyone as most drone isn’t going to be. No beats no drums just occasional piano flourishes and sparse flute though I will have to admit that each Elodie release tends to get just a tad more “musical” with more use of pads, piano, and strings. We do still have the occasional random metallic sounds and bowed metals. Progressing at what I would describe as a glacial pace the entire lp progresses from a somewhat lighter mood to a much darker one on the second side. Another great piece of blissful drone ambiance from the masters. Turn it on and just fade out. Sound samples on the La Scie Doree website. As always the packaging and artwork are superb.
