Created by flutist Sarah Gosset and guitarist Plastic Crimewave, Spiral Galaxy journeys into the past to create an amazing soundscape of drones and textures reminiscent of Popol Vuh, early Kraftwerk, and any number of other cosmic travelers from the early Krautrock days. With additional contributions from members of Faust, Acid Mothers, and Magic Carpet Spiral Galaxy delivers an impressive release representing the best of cosmic space drones.

The four extended tracks lead off with “Celestial Omen” which begins with an ominous vocal chant that melts into a guitar/sitar drone backed with spatial pads, flute, and drones for a relaxing 11+ minute intro. “Tragique Mechanique” starts off with a pulsing electronic rhythm again layered with cosmic drones and flute with a female voice talking in the mix which continues through the piece growing somewhat more ominous or frantic as it progresses with more voices as if we are building up to some kind of cosmic liftoff. “Machine D” leads off side two with a simple kick-snare rhythm with guitar drones and reverse effects which eventually leads to a somewhat familiar sounding flute that recalls the fuzzed-out guitar sound on Spacemen 3’s “Big City” The piece continues on for 14 minutes of blissful drone building ever so slightly. The album concludes with the short piece of the four “Pendlewitches” which starts off in a very early Floyd influenced manner with the ominous guitar and male whisper vocals and echos which continue through the piece for the most psychedelic of the tracks.

One of the better LP’s of the year so far this one will be played often. Released by Cardinal Fuzz in Europe and Lion Recordings in the USA you can find this in your more progressive shops.
